Taxonomic Information

Cydalima Lederer, 1863 species known from Indian subcontinent.
Cydalima capriniodes (Hampson, 1912). India; Myanmar. 
Cydalima diaphanalis (Walker, 1866). Myanmar. 
Cydalima laticostalis (Guenée, 1854). Indian subcontinent. 
Cydalima perspectalis (Walker, 1859). India.
Cydalima pfeifferae (Lederer, 1863). India; Myanmar.

Similar genera
Palpita sp. and Stemorrhages sp. The forewing brown costal bar in Cydalima laticostalis extends into the cell and the bar and cell forms a little white nick. Thorax collar and head brown.

Similar species
Cydalima conchylalis is a junior synonym of Cydalima laticostalis basis Mally, R. & . N. Mathias. 2010. Phylogeny and nomenclature of the box tree moth, Cydalima perspectalis (Walker, 1859) comb. n., which was recently introduced into Europe (Lepidoptera: Pyraloidea: Crambidae: Spilomelinae). European Journal of Entomology.  107: 393–400.  http://globiz.pyraloidea.org confirms this position.  
 
Cydalima capriniodes  OD: Hampson, G. F. 1912. The Moths of India. Supplementary paper to the Volumes in ”The Fauna of British India” Series IV, Part V. Journal of the Bombay Natural History Society. Volume 21, No. 3, Pg 1268-1269. The description matches Cydalima laticostalis, hence there is a need to investigate the taxonomic status of this species by examination of the type specimens.
