Similar species:
Lymantria detersa is known from S. and W. India. Lymantria incerta holotype is from N. India. Chequered fringe present on both FW & HW in incerta.
Other members of the subgenus Nyctria, represented in India by L. mathura (throughout the Himalaya and NE India) and by L. grandis (South India and Sri. Lanka). A similiar species L. murzini also occurs in N. Myanmar (Schintlmeister, 2004).
