Taxonomic Information

Herochroma Swinhoe, 1893 species known from India:
Herochroma baba Swinhoe, 1893. India: Meghalaya (TL: Khasi Hills).
Herochroma baibarana baibarana (Matsumura, 1931). India: NE Himalaya, Assam, Meghalaya (Khasi Hills). 
Herochroma orientalis (Holloway, 1982). NE Himalaya; Sri Lanka is its synonym. 
Herochroma cristata cristata (Warren, 1894). India: Sikkim. Herochroma subopalina (Warren, 1894) is its synonym. 
Herochroma subspoliata (Prout, 1916). India: Nilgiris (TL).
Herochroma elaearia (Hampson, 1903). India: Sikkim, Meghalaya (Khasi Hills).
Herochroma farinosa (Warren, 1893), NW Himalayas, Lahoul.
Herochroma flavitincta (Warren, 1897). India: Meghalaya (TL: Khasi Hills).
Herochroma liliana (Swinhoe, 1892). India: Meghalaya (TL: Khasi Hills).
Herochroma ochreipicta (Swinhoe, 1905). India: Meghalaya (TL: Khasi Hills).
Herochroma subtepens (Walker, 1860). India: Sikkim, Meghalaya (Khasi Hills).
Herochroma usneata (Felder & Rogenhofer, 1875). India: Himalayas.
Herochroma viridaria (Moore, 1868). India: West Bengal.
Herochroma yazakii Inoue, 1999. Nepal [Godavari]; India: West Bengal (Darjeeling).

Herochroma costata Kirti, Goyal & Kaur, 2012. Karnataka. This species name is thus considered a nomen nudum (Plotkin & Kawahara, 2020).

Notes by SS: H. subspoliata probably replaces Herochroma cristata in South India. This is likely the only Herochroma from S. India.

Another species is, Herochroma costata Kirti, Goyal & Kaur, 2012. This was described from Karnataka. This species name is thus considered a nomen nudum (Plotkin & Kawahara, 2020).
